Four Years Down.......Eternity to go!

Today is our four year anniversary. I can't believe it has been that long time seems to be flying by. A lot has happened these four years and in just a few short months Mike will be graduating law school. We are both excited and nervous to see where we will end up.

Last night we were able to do dinner and a movie. Our first date was to Olive Garden so we have had this tradition each year on our anniversary.

I am so glad I randomly saw Mike at a mission farewell in my home ward and that he decided to ask me out. I feel so lucky to have Mike, Dawson, and baby brother on the way.

We weren't able to make it home this year for Christmas. It was fun to start our own traditions this year and Dawson was so fun. He was so excited to open every present and kept saying "it's a fun day"

He looks a little sleepy (church at one) but so handsome. Mike found this suit a year ago and it was so cheap that he had to get it, we have been waiting for it to fit him and it worked out to be perfect for Christmas Sunday.

We had such a fun Christmas we missed seeing our families but are excited for their upcoming visits.

We were so lucky and excited to have my parents come for my dad's birthday on the 17th. We decided to go to Sea World and Disneyland. Both were so fun and decorated so cute for the holidays.

The holiday parade was so fun. My dad was wearing one of the Birthday pins and a performer gave him a birthday shout out during the parade. It was awesome.

I thought Dawson would be a little scared of this polar bear but he walked right up to him and gave him a hug.

So, yesterday after sacrament we dropped Dawson off at nursery. He has started loving going and can't wait to see sister Rice every week. And then we headed to Sunday School. After church we went to pick him up and the teachers said we need to talk to you guys. I was like okay now what...apparently last week he hit a girl. She proceeded to tell us that Dawson was lost. The leaders reassured me that he was back and safe but that somehow he managed to get out and nobody knew he was missing. Apparently a random primary teacher happened to be in the hall, luckily, and saw him walking outside around the building and brought him back to the nursery. Now, at this point I am like totally freaking out thinking of all the terrible things that could have happened to my little buddy. It's a very big nursery and quite frankly there probably aren't enough leaders. I have no idea how he managed to get out. He was playing in the room on Saturday morning while we were cleaning the church and he couldn't get out so it's all really strange. Anyway the moral of the story is we are so lucky that nothing happened and that he is safe. And so grateful that he was protected. Funny side note I asked him where he was going after we got home and he said to the park. There is a park that is fairly close to the church and he is such an adventurous little guy. I feel so bad for the poor nursery leaders. I know they felt terrible. It was just kind of a crummy situation. However, we can now add Houdini to his resume. :)

Trunk or Treat

It was our first time going to a trunk or treat and it was so fun and perfect for Dawson. Since he was a pirate we decorated the trunk with a pirate theme. Dawson had fun walking around getting candy and we have enjoyed eating it :)

Carving Pumpkins

We had our annual pumpkin carving with our friends. We did it the week before Halloween since pumpkins here last a total of like 5 or 6 days before the humidity has made them a moldy mess. So, we enjoyed them for a couple days and threw them away first thing Tuesday morning. We probably waited too long because they were gross but we wanted them for Halloween. Dawson picked the small one and had a fun time going to town on the guts with a spoon.

We decided to go to Disneyland last weekend. We had so much fun watching Dawson get so excited.

We were able to go to Sea World a couple weeks ago and trick or treat and watch the Halloween inspired shows. So much fun.

FInally....an update!

A couple weeks ago we were able to spend the day at the Wild Animal Park. Pretty fun but the animals at the zoo seem more active.

Some friends gave us tickets to a Padres game. They were way good seats and we had so much fun. Dawson even loved cheering although it was usually for the other team.

We were finally able to have a bonfire on the beach with some friends. We got there early enough to find some sea shells and play in the water. It was so much fun and we will have to do a lot more.

We were able to celebrate Mike's birthday back in August we had dinner and cake and ice cream at home with Dawson and then were able to go bowling with some friends. It was so much fun and we were so glad that people were able to come.

I can't believe my baby is two. His birthday was in July and we were able to go home for a couple weeks to celebrate with family. Before we left we gave him his present from us and he loves his bike.

When we got home we decided to go to Disneyland since we both had a little time left before fall semester. Dawson was tall enough to ride the Toontown rollercoaster and you can tell by his face in this picture that he loved it.

We were so glad that we got to go home and spend some time with our families. We were able to do a lot of fun things, unfortunately I didn't get many pictures.

4th of July weekend

We were able to take a spur of the moment trip to St. George with friends and family for the fourth and it was so much fun. We miss seeing everyone and it was really fun to get together and catch up. Dawson loved all of the attention.

My family came to San Diego to go to Disneyland again. Grandma, and some of the cousins were able to come. We had tons of fun and Dawson loves it.

For spring break this year I was able to meet my mom, sis, and sis in law in Vegas for some shopping, eating and to see the Lion King which was amazing. We had tons of fun and it was a much needed get a way.

Disneyland

My parents and little brother were able to come for the weekend a couple weekends ago and we got to go to Disneyland. We had so much fun and I was sad to see them go. Dawson is at a fun age and almost tall enough to ride a few of the "big kids" rides. Sadly the only pictures we really took were of Dawson but I promise we were all there and loved it.

Valentines

Valentines day was pretty low key for us. Mike didn't get home from school until 7:45 so I just had dinner ready for him when he got here and then we exchanged gifts and watched the Bachelor. Sometimes those lazy days are the best.

We were lucky enough to do our Christmas shopping in 65 degree weather this year. So, it was kind of weird when we saw a little Christmas house set up with Santa inside. We were impressed with the real beard and decided we needed a traditional picture with Santa.

We were able to do some fun things while we were home for Christmas. We went to Ogden to see some lights with my family and it was really fun.

We were able to go to a Jazz game while we were home with Riley and Ashley. It was a lot of fun and the Jazz won.

We were so lucky to be able to go home for Christmas. I failed to take pictures of all the family stuff we did but we had a really fun time and are very grateful for the families we have.

At the middle of November my friend Jordan and I were able to go to the So You Think You Can Dance concert. It was so much fun and a much needed night out.

For Thanksgiving this year my awesome parents made the trip out and sadly I only took one picture. Fortunately it's of a cute roll snatcher :)

Halloween (hardly late) :)

A couple weeks before Halloween we were able to have Mike's parents and little sister come and visit. We had lots of fun. We went to Sea World, the boys golfed at Torrey Pines while the girls went shopping, went out to eat and spent time playing games.

Then for Halloween weekend we met up with my family minus Riley and Ashley (which we were sad about) at Disneyland. We had tons of fun and were able to ride some of the big kid rides while my parents watched Dawson.

We were able to have cousin Addi come too and it was fun to have her with us.

Apparently I got no pictures of the boys. Whoops! Dave, Mike and Jesse were there I promise.

We had so much fun and are exciting for the holidays coming up.

But first
A couple weeks ago we were able to meet up with Kara and her family. We went to La Jolla Cove and then just spent the rest of the day hanging out. I love hanging out with these guys they are so fun. Sadly this is the only picture I took but we had a lot of fun.

We found a cute little pumpkin patch by our house so we were able to carve pumpkins this past weekend with our friends. We had tons of fun and it was fun to watch Dawson love it.

They had a little petting zoo. This kid loves animals. He gets so excited when he sees any kind of animal and always wants to touch it so this was perfect for him.

And some random pictures of Dawson. He loves books and is constantly looking through them during the day. Of course he has to be sitting on the couch which is so cute. And I should probably get him one of those stick horses because he thinks the broom is pretty cool.

We have had a lot going on and I'm way behind so...

A couple weeks ago my dad had a work conference in California. We were able to meet up with him and get some dinner and spend the night hanging out with him. It was tons of fun. We even got a flat tire but I was glad he was there to help Mike. I'm sure I wouldn't have been much help.

We went to the zoo with our friends and it was way fun. Dawson just kept pointing and all the animals and doing his famous oooh like the aliens on Toy Story

And, for Labor day weekend we went up to LA. We were able to go to the Santa Monica Pier which we had never been before and it was beautiful and busy. We did the Hollywood star walk and went to a wax museum. It was tons of fun and some of the pictures actually look pretty real.

And last but not least Dawson tries to sit on or in everything. He loves the drawers, couches, his chair and apparently now the pots and pans.

We are both back in school and semi enjoying it so far. We are looking forward to some visits from our families this fall and all of our favorite shows to start back up :)

We were able to go to Utah for a couple weeks. While we were there we got to celebrate Dawson's first birthday. He got spoiled and had a blast with his cake. We went to Bear Lake, the pool, Mike golfed a lot and we were able to spend a lot of time with family. I was spoiled and got to have my sister come home with us for a week and we had so much fun. We love spending time with our families.

Dawson's new favorite toy is his little car. He rides it around the house and tries to stand on it.

I can't believe that Dawson is already 13 months. He is getting so smart and does the cutest things. He loves trying to open the door with my keys and he loves to vacuum. He has 12 teeth now and has been a trooper through the whole thing. We are so lucky to have him.

My baby is one. How did that happen? He has been the biggest blessing. We are so lucky to have him. A few fun things he does now: waves, blows kisses, says mama and dada and lots of other mumble words, dances, and he has been walking for a couple weeks.

We are having a big party for him when we go home to Utah in a couple weeks so we decided to just go to Chuck E Cheese's today. Dawson loved the little rides that go back and forth.

Fourth of July jammies

We got to go back to Disneyland for the fourth of July weekend. Dawson loves it and it's so fun to see him get so excited.

I gave Dawson a book to look at and he climbed up in his chair. It was so cute.

If you look closely you can see hair sticking up. He is finally getting some hair and it just makes him even cuter.

Dawson insists on feeding himself. He is getting a bit better but he still makes quite a mess.

We have been able to spend some days at the beach and it has been so fun.

We got to go to Disneyland yesterday and it was so much fun. We saw the new water show and it is awesome. Dawson's favorite ride was pirates. He was dancing the whole time.

I just love that little face. He has started walking and wanted to walk in all of the lines we were in. I'm sure that was a little annoying for the people behind us. :)

My family followed us back to California to help us move. Mike got a job in northern San Diego county for the summer so we moved up to Encinitas. I am so glad they were able to come we couldn't have done it without them. While they were here we decided to do some playing to celebrate Jesse's graduation.

We went to a Padres game. It was way fun and the Padres won.

We spent Sunday afternoon at La Jolla Cove just walking around

We went to the beach. Sad to say that it was our first time to play at the beach since we moved here.

The towel didn't last long Dawson was crawling around getting sand everywhere. We are still finding sand in random places.

I shouldn't admit it but I love the bachelor/bachelorette so I was excited when I saw Kiptyn at Foot Locker in San Diego. For those of you who don't know him he was the runner up on the season where Jillian was the bachelorette. I was sad to admit that I recognized him because it meant that I must watch too much t.v but he was a nice guy and I figured I might as well get a picture with him. After all he is kind of a celebrity.

The last day my family was here the boys were able to golf at Torrey Pines. They were like kids on Christmas the whole morning which was awesome. The girls went shopping. We had such a fun week and were sad to see them leave.

We were able to go home a couple weeks ago. Jesse graduated high school which seems so weird to me but we are so proud of him. It was a quick visit but we had lots of fun.

Dawson had his first ice cream cone and his thumb stuck right into it. He loved it and just left his thumb in there while he ate it.

Mother's Day

Just when I thought I was the best mom in the world ha ha I got this beautiful bouquet of flowers sent to my door. Thank you so much mom. You are truly the best mom in the world.

I had an awesome mothers day. Mike gave a talk in church on mothers and he did an awesome job. I didn't have to change any diapers or do the dishes today. My boys spoiled me and I had the best day. I am so lucky to be a mother. It is the best job in the world.

9 Months

My baby is 9 months old today. It's crazy how fast time flies. We are enjoying watching him learn and grow. He is such a cute boy and we are so lucky to have him.

He is such a fast crawler and likes to get into everything

He's been getting pretty daring with trying to walk on his own. Doesn't quite know what to do though. But he loves when we hold on to his hands and help him walk.

He thinks it's funny to swat my hand when I am feeding him. Food goes everywhere and it is so not funny. I have had to hold his hands down to feed him which he doesn't really love

He still loves baths

He has 8 teeth. I know crazy huh. It makes him look like a little boy and not so much like a baby which is bitter sweet

He has the cutest little giggle and loves to laugh at himself

He has an attitude problem which is actually pretty cute. And he is always trying to get his way and be the center of attention (we're working on that one)

He is a people person and loves to smile at strangers

He has a really cute smile but he hides it when I pull the camera out most of the time. Little stinker

He is so cute and we love him so much.

Besides the earthquake on Sunday we are loving San Diego springs. We have had a few days of rain but it has been pretty nice lately. We have been swimming a few times. Dawson loves the pool and gets mad when it's time to go home.

Spring Break

For Utah States spring break we had Dave and Hayley come visit for the first few days. We had a fun time shopping and hanging out. Then the later part of the week we met my parents and little brother in Anaheim and spent a few days at Disneyland. I love Disneyland and it was even better this time because Dawson got to go. He loved it and I think it's safe to say we will be going back. I was so greatful for my parents they took Dawson and Mike and I were able to go on some rides together.

We were so lucky to have family come visit. We love you all and miss you already.

During Mike's spring break we were able to have the Jewell's come out and visit us. We had a lot of fun and were able to do some cool things. The best part was that we got Mike all to ourselves for a week.

Since we had a longer weekend we decided to do something fun and different. So on Saturday we went to La Jolla. It was so much fun. We walked up and down the beach and we decided that during the summer when it's warmer we are going to snorkel and kayak.

When we got home we went swimming. And on Monday we went down to the outlet mall.

I love the weekends when we get to spend a little extra time with Mike.

We had such a fun Christmas and New Years home with our families. We braved the long 13 hour drive and Dawson actually did pretty good. He gets fussy in the car now that we are home though I think we probably scared him. We were able to do a lot of fun things while we were home and see a lot of family. We were sad to say goodbye but look forward to visits from our families hopefully in the near future.

We had a nice relaxing day for my birthday. Mike had school so when he got home we went and saw New Moon. I liked it and might possibly be team Jacob now. Then we came home and had dinner out on the deck. One of the good things about San Diego. It was the end of November and we were eating outside.

We stayed here for Thanksgiving and I attempted to make Thanksgiving dinner. It went fine, I think it turned out alright. But we sure missed our families a lot. We forget to take pictures. Sad.

On Saturday we went to the zoo. It was cooler so the animals were out and more active. It was a lot of fun.

We are counting down the days until we get to go home for Christmas. We miss Logan and especially our families.

On Saturday we had a dinner for the Law School Society that Mike is a part of. I was really nervous to leave Dawson with a neighboor because he is still kind of little. I called my mom and was semi joking with her about her coming to babysit. She called me the next day and said she had enough frequent flyer miles and could come for the weekend. I am so greatful for such an awesome mom. We got to go to lunch, do some Christmas shopping and just hang out. And of course Dawson got spoiled once again. We ended up being gone for almost six hours so I was so glad she was here. Thank you so much mom. We already miss you. :)

My parents came out for the weekend and we had so much fun. They brought us lots of food and of course Dawson was spoiled with tons of presents. We got to go to the zoo, shopping, out to eat, trick or treating at Sea World, and just spent time hanging out. I always miss them so much when they leave but am so great full they got to come. This was by far my favorite Halloween. Thank you so much parents for coming. We love you guys.

So, we are driving home from Baskin Robins the other day. Dawson was not happy about being in his car seat so I decided to sit in the back to help calm him down a little bit. We get to a stoplight and a car full of girls pulls up next to us. I guess they didn't see me and Dawson sitting in the back because the girl in the front proceeded to roll her window down and signal Mike. She was totally trying to hit on him. A girl from the back must have told her about me because she got really awkward her face got bright red and she rolled the window back up. We sat there laughing at her while she tried really hard to avoid eye contact with us. That light could not change fast enough for her. In a way I felt bad because I knew she probably felt pretty dumb. But, we got a good laugh.

Zoo, Animal Park, and a quick trip home

Last weekend we went to the zoo and the animal park. Dawson started out in his stroller but didn't last long. He clearly likes the pack better. I ended up pushing around an empty stroller. Next time we aren't taking it. :)

I was able to go home for a few days. We went to Dawson's doctor appointment and hung out with the Hedin's. It was so good to see my family. We had so much fun. Dawson is getting big. He is 23.5 inches now and weighs almost 13 pounds. He is such a cute guy. We love him so much and feel very lucky to have him.

MIke's Birthday and Labor Day

Mike's birthday was on the 31st. We went to the San Diego aquarium during the day and to dinner and Sea World at night. The night shows are awesome and we had a lot of fun. Happy Birthday to Mike.

For Labor day we went to breakfast at this cute little cafe we found that you can eat outside. It was really good. Then we spent the day at the pool. Dawson hated how cold the water was and screamed when I put his feet in. Hopefully he gets over that. We also went to an outlet mall that is off the last US exit. Kind of weird you could see Mexico. It had way good stores though and we will for sure go back. It was fun to have a weekend to just hang out. Mike was excited to not have school and I was glad to have him home for a day.

We finally got the internet at our new place in San Diego. So there is a lot to post.
First, we blessed our baby

My family drove with us. All but Dave and Ashley who had to work. And we were able to do some fun things while they were here. We went to Sea world and Mike and I got season passes which I was pretty excited about, went to Torrey Pines(a famous golf course) mike and my dad and brothers loved it, to a fun little shopping area by the ocean and out to eat. It was so fun having them around.

We have learned some fun things about Dawson over the past month.
He loves taking baths

He wont sleep in any other position. His hands have to be up and out of his blanket. It's so funny.

He is a smiley guy

If your being too loud he will plug his ears

Overall things are going good with us. We are just trying to adjust to living in San Diego. Mike is liking law school like I knew he would and I am having fun staying home. We are loving our little guy and all the cute things he does. He is so much fun. We are very lucky.

Dawson Michael Jewell was born Sunday afternoon at 4:37. He weighed 7lbs 7oz and is 20in long. The birth went really well I felt way lucky and everything seems to be continuing to go well. We are so lucky to have our families close to help out with things. They have been great. For now we are just loving our little guy...updates to come.

Baby shower

So, my mom, sister and sister in law had a baby shower for me. I got some way good stuff from my family and it was so fun and cute. Apparently I am terrible at taking pictures of actual people but at least you can see how cute it turned out.

We also stripped and re-painted a dresser and desk for the babies room. They were a lot of work but turned out pretty cute I think. Oh and yes we are naming him Dawson.

The countdown begins...Well, I have been counting down for a while now but we are officially to 10 days. Holy cow that is kind of scary.

Last weekend my friends had a shower for me. It was a lot of fun and exciting to get things for the baby. I should have taken more pictures. The decorations were so cute.

I am looking extra chubby lately but haven't posted any belly shots so... also, note the awkwardness of these photos. Yikes.

On father's day we went to the Jewell's for lunch. We walked down to the pasture and brought the horses back to the house. Fun afternoon walk.

Later we went to my parents for dinner and some games. It was a very fun father's day. I always love spending time with our families.

Memorial Weekend

We had such a fun weekend. On Friday my brother got married. I was lame and forgot to take my camera. My sister gave me a few of her pictures but unfortunately none of Riley and Ashley. She looked so pretty and Riley was handsome. It was such a good day, here's a picture from when they were dating.

We went and saw the second Night at the Museum after the reception with my sister and her husband that night. It was really cute. Saturday we just hung out and got some things done. Sunday we went up to Bear Lake to spend the day with Mike's family.

Yesterday we went to Hogle Zoo. I guess we are such kids cause we love the zoo. It was such a nice day and it was really fun.

After the zoo Mike golfed at Bonneville golf course, I attempted but wasn't too successful, we had a Bbq with my family later, and went bowling with Dave and Hayley. It was such a fun weekend we were spoiled and had a hard time going back to work today.

So, my parents gave us a grill for Christmas but we have been waiting to set it up until there was some warm weather. Well, this past week it was warm enough. We had some steak and a little picnic. I love the sunshine and am so excited for summer. Thanks parents.

Easter Fun!!

I finally got some time off of work so we were able to do some fun things last weekend. First, we colored eggs

Then on Saturday we gave each other our Easter baskets since we weren't going to be home on Sunday. Mike got one for baby. It was really cute. Mike also got me an Easter lily.

We went to baby animal days at the heritage center. And got our copy of Bolt signed by the guy that played Rhino the hampster. Got to hang out with our families. We had an Easter egg hunt with the Jewells and flew kites with the nephews. Then went to my grandma's house for dinner. It was a very fun Easter.

Then, on Monday me and my mom and sister went to Park City to get some clothes for the baby at the outlets. My mom and sister are so cute and helped me spoil him. The pictures don't do the clothes much justice but take my word for it they are all so cute.

Yesterday we had a doctors appointment and were shocked and so excited to find out we are having a boy!!

Mike bought the little sweater vest outfit. Look close the pants have pin stripes. So cute. Like father like son. My parents gave us the book and my cute sister gave us the other outfit and booties. Got to love families. Our families have been so great so far and I'm sure will continue to be amazing. We love you guys. We were so excited to find out everything is going great. He is a very healthy little guy.

Rexburg Temple

We went up to Rexburg for the weekend to spend some time with Mike's mission buddy and his wife. We went to dinner on Friday night and played The Office trivia game. Mike won of course, he memorizes movies so easily. On saturday we did a session in the Rexburg temple. It was so pretty. We played some playstation, went to a movie, and had a good time with friends. Thanks Jonathan and Melissa for the fun weekend.

So, Mike got his first acceptance letter for law school to the University of Pacific McGeorge in Sacramento. But, the good news is he also got a scholarship. He is amazing. It's only our first offer of admission so we wont accept it just yet. We are going to wait and see what happens with his other schools. Just thought I would let everyone know.

So, we are going to be parents. I had my first doctors appointment today and it was amazing. They did an ultrasound and the baby was stretching its arms and legs out it was so cute. My doctor said it is very photogenic and was showing off. I am twelve weeks along and due July 24. I haven't really felt sick at all(sorry to all you sick mommies.) We are so excited and anxious to find out the sex. The pictures are a little small but still way cute. At least we think so.

LSAT

So, on December 6th Mike took the LSAT. (law school admissions test) I had to ask so i thought some of you might wonder. They told him he would get his score back on January 5th but, it came today. YAY!!! And he did so good. He is in the 86th percentile. So now he starts applying and we will probably know by February.

Christmas Eve we went to my parents. While we were waiting for Riley to get home from work we obviously had to watch the grinch. (A Hedin family tradition) We had dinner and then did presents. So much fun I have such a cool family.

My mom did such a good job with the table decorations and the dinner. It was so good and looked really cute.

On Christmas we went to the Jewells. And got spoiled again. We have great families. We got to hang out with the nephews and be lazy. It started snowing really bad so we ended up spending the night. (Thanks Doug and Tonya) we woke up to a ton of snow and it took almost two hours to get our car out.

Overall it was such a fun weekend. We enjoyed our time off and went to a few movies. We are lucky to have such amazing families. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Christmas Time

This year we spent the sunday before Christmas at my grandma Shelton's. I have a lot of little cousins on my mom's side and it was fun to see them get so excited about their presents. We really missed grandpa, it wasn't nearly as fun without him. I love spending time with my family they are the greatest.

So, most of your husbands probably like The Dark Knight. But how many went to Best Buy at midnight to buy it and then insist on coming home and staying up till two thirty watching it?

Well that is what Mike did. I went with him to get it but could not talk myself into staying up that late. It's funny cause we had no problem staying up late when we were dating. It must be a married thing to go to bed early.

We have a Christmas tradition of getting a real tree every year. We usually try to get the one that is the most bear that we know nobody will want. We add all of our decorations and it usually turns out looking like a cute Charlie Brown tree :)

Smartest Husband

So, i new that I was marrying an incredibly smart guy but, i didn't realize just how smart and motivated he actually was. Mike turned in a final paper and this is what his teacher had to say, " I always supposed you could rival with the best students in the program and in this case you proved it." What a stud. He is so good at the things he does. Sometimes it's annoying cause he seems to be good at almost anything. Anyway, he will be so embarrassed if he sees this. But i am just so proud of him. :)

We finally did something to post about! We went to Tucanos for dinner and then to a Jazz game, for an early birthday present. Thanks Mike. The Jazz won by 12 and it was so much fun. We saw those cute old people walking in with their matching jackets and had to take a picture. We also found those tattoos at our house from a game we went to last year. I thought the picture of Korver looked funny. Like he was raising his hand to ask a question. :)

We got married on January 8th. We are living in logan and going to school. Mike will graduate in the spring and then next August we will be off to law school. ?(Hopefully somewhere cool!)
